THE BEST OF ANITA BAKER: Get Caught Up in the Rapture From Rhino Records
At last, we have a new Anita Baker album to look foward to. For more information on this greatest hits compilation,
go to Rhino Records
and do a search on "Anita Baker." You may also purchase this album through Rhino Records.
Got this piece of news from EURWEB:
(Jun. 4, 2002) Hailed as "a female Luther Vandross," Anita Baker was the romantic voice and one
of the most popular urban/adult contemporary singers of the 80s and 90s. With hits like "Angel," "Sweet Love," and
"Caught Up In The Rapture," Baker's strong, sensual alto catapulted her to the top of the charts and made her an
originator of the "quiet storm" sound. On June 18 - with the release of Rhino Records' THE BEST OF ANITA BAKER - the
steamy sound of Anita Baker will be back in rotation, just in time to heat up summer nights.
THE BEST OF ANITA BAKER serves up 18 sensuously soulful songs released on the Beverly Glen and Elektra record labels from
1983 - 1995, including the #1 R&B hits "Giving You the Best That I Got" and "Just Because." Other top-10 hits featured on
the disc are "Angel," "Sweet Love," "Same Ole Love," and "No One In The World."
Rhino has culled the most spectacular recording performances from Baker's career, highlighting the tracks that landed her
four consecutive multi-platinum albums - Rapture (quintuple platinum, 1986); Giving You the Best That I Got
(triple-platinum, 1989); Compositions (platinum, 1990); Rhythm of Love (double-platinum 1994) - and rounding out the
disc with her many classic recordings.
With a sound rooted in gospel, soul, jazz and classic pop, Anita Baker's complex voice and style defies categorization,
but easily places her in the ranks - as Rhino's The Best of Anita Baker illustrates - as one of the greatest urban
contemporary singers of all time.
